The little man on the bridge

the little man on the bridge

The actual city of Bonn on the left side of the Rhine and the district Beuel on the right side are now connected by a steel bridge -the Kennedy Bridge. The predecessor of the present bridge was a mighty stone bridge with two archways, which was destroyed in the Second World War. When that bridge was constructed, Beuel refused to make a financial contribution. Bonn returned the favor setting a little man of stone into the bridge, who had his pant at the ankles and stretched his bare bottom towards Beuel. This little man now also decorates the new bridge.
