This nice and seemingly harmless little flower in reality is one of the most frightening weeds. It causes much of trouble even for room and balkony gardeners. The "Common chickweed" is common worldwide in all regions of moderate climate. Its latin name "Stellaria media" ("medium little star") is rather suitable, if one looks at the picture. And this plant can also be eaten, even if most people don't know this.
I took this picture in may 2000 at the margin of a fallow field near Bonn (germany).
